A new PULSE needs one setup install before you can load frequencies from your library. The app’s Device Setup does it: it sends the PULSE its base software together with a 100 Hz starter program. After that, every install is a normal frequency change.
Before you start
- Your app is up to date. See Update the UltraNFC app.
- The device is switched on (POWER switch up).
- Take off a thick or metal phone case.
Run Device Setup
- Open UltraNFC, signed in, and start Device Setup.
- Follow its steps to the Install step and tap Install.
- Hold your phone to the device the right way: the top of an iPhone on the POWER switch, or an Android phone flat with its NFC spot over the switch. See Where to hold your phone.
- Keep it completely still until the screen says it’s finished. The setup install is bigger than a frequency change and takes about ten seconds.
When it’s done, the device restarts running 100 Hz. The newest versions of the app then suggest a starting program for what you want to do. From then on, install anything in your library the normal way.
If it doesn’t work
- “Transfer failed” or “Tag was lost”: the phone lost its connection partway through, usually because it moved or wasn’t over the switch. Trying again is safe. See An install failed.
- The install may have worked anyway. If the device finished and restarted before the phone could confirm it, use the app’s option to check the device before trying again.
- Stuck on “Getting the package…”: update the app. A few iPhone versions from late October had this problem, and the current version fixes it.
You only run Device Setup once per device. A PULSE that has already been set up doesn’t need it again.
